01
Selling surplus wire
What kind of wire do you buy?
Copper and aluminum electrical wire and cable: building wire such as THHN, THWN, THWN-2, XHHW and XHHW-2; MC, AC, tray, VFD, TC/TC-ER, PLTC, SER, SEU, URD and USE-2 cable; bare and insulated copper, grounding wire and welding cable; control, instrumentation, communication and shielded cable; fire-alarm and low-voltage cable; and medium- and high-voltage cable from 5kV through 69kV and above when available.
What do you not buy?
This site is only about electrical wire and cable. Transformers, switchgear, breakers, MCCs, generators, bus plugs, chillers, machinery, vehicles and general scrap are outside what we buy. Stripped, burned or mixed-metal scrap is also outside scope, because it is no longer cable.
Is there a minimum quantity?
No stated minimum, but a single short cut length is rarely worth a dedicated trip. Small lots are usually grouped with other material from the same shop or storeroom. Send the list and we will tell you whether it stands alone or should wait for a larger lot.
Do you guarantee that you will buy everything you are shown?
No. Every lot is reviewed on construction, gauge, condition and footage before any offer is made, and some material is not a fit. Sending details and photos costs nothing and does not commit you to anything.
Can I sell new surplus that was never installed?
Yes. Factory-banded reels with intact tags are the simplest material to review. Unused but opened reels, overstock, cancelled-project stock and warehouse or distributor inventory are all reviewed too.
02
Photos, details and quoting
What photos should I take?
Four photos per reel cover most of it: the reel tag or label, the jacket legend printed along the cable, the cut end showing conductor count and gauge, and a wider shot of the reel or the whole stack. For boxes, photograph the box label and the remaining spool inside.
What if the label is faded or missing?
Send the photo anyway, plus the cut end, the outside diameter and the conductor count. Faded legends often still read in a straight-on, well-lit photo, and the cut end answers most of the remaining questions.
Do I need exact footage?
Exact is best, but an estimate is workable. Factory-length tags, a wrap-depth comparison against the flange, or a shipping weight all help. Tell us which one you are giving so the offer is based on the right assumption.
How long does a review take?
Reviews are handled in the order they arrive. Complete submissions — all four photo types per reel, gauge and footage listed — move faster than partial ones, because no follow-up is needed before the material can be assessed.
Is there a cost to submit a quote request?
No. Submitting details and photos is free, and there is no obligation to accept an offer.
03
Pricing and offers
How is surplus wire priced?
Price reflects the metal (copper or aluminum), the construction and gauge, the voltage class, the condition, and the footage. Metal markets move, so an offer is tied to the assumptions in the submission and to the date it was made.
Why does the same gauge sometimes get different offers?
Insulation and jacket type, voltage rating, shielding, manufacturer, age and storage conditions all affect what the cable can be used for. Two reels of 2 AWG can have very different value depending on construction and condition.
Do you publish price lists?
No. There is no published price list because construction, condition and footage vary too much for a single number to be accurate. Send the details and the offer is specific to your material.
Can the offer change after inspection?
Yes, if the material differs from what the photos and description showed — for example hidden jacket damage, water intrusion or a different footage than stated. That is why the review is based on your photos and the material is checked before pickup.
04
Pickup, shipping and logistics
Do you pick up?
Pickup or shipping is arranged when an offer is agreed. The method depends on the material, the quantity and the access at your site. Reels that can be moved by hand are handled differently from wooden reels that need a forklift.
What access information helps?
Dock height or lack of a dock, forklift availability and capacity, liftgate needs, gate or badge requirements, parking and truck restrictions, and whether the material is indoors, outdoors or in a basement. Any of those can change the pickup plan.
Can material be shipped instead of picked up?
Yes, when agreed. Cable should be palletized, strapped and labelled, with the reel tags protected, and photographed before it leaves. Shipping is more common for western Colorado and outlying areas where a dedicated truck is hard to justify.
Do you work outside the Denver metro?
Yes, across the Front Range and other Colorado communities where service coverage makes sense. Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Fort Collins, Greeley, Grand Junction and the mountain corridors are handled as scheduled runs or freight rather than same-day pickups.
05
Photos, privacy and contact
How are my photos and contact details used?
They are used to review your material and respond to your request. Photos are stored with the request so the material can be discussed after the fact. Details are not sold or published. See the privacy page for the specifics.
Can I send photos by text or email instead?
Yes. The form is the fastest route because the details and photos arrive together, but you can call (614) 715-3047 or email saleselectricalbuyers@gmail.com if that is easier.
What file types and sizes can the form accept?
Up to eight photos per submission, in JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC or AVIF. Large phone photos are reduced automatically on the server, so there is no need to resize them first. If a file is rejected, the form will say which one and why.
Do you use the photos on this website?
No. Photos submitted with a quote request are used for the review only; they are not published on the site or used in marketing.
Still unsure
Send the photo you have
A partial submission is better than no submission. If you only have a tag photo and a rough footage estimate, send those; the review will tell you what else is needed.
