SURPLUS CABLE FOR UTILITIES AND ENERGY PROJECTS
Utility and generation work is planned in spans and delivered in reels. When a span is redesigned or a project is deferred, the cable is already on the yard and already tagged.
Electric utilities, power generation, transmission and distribution contractors, and renewable-energy projects in Colorado hold medium-voltage cable, concentric-neutral distribution cable, control cable and grounding conductors. Voltage classes from 5kV through 35kV are routine; 69kV and above is reviewed case by case.
Surplus usually traces to a design change, a cancelled rebuild, a re-rated feeder, or a project that was deferred after the material was released. Concentric-neutral cable is common in utility yards and is quoted on voltage class, conductor size, neutral wire count and footage.
Renewable-energy work adds DC string cable, inverter-to-transformer cable and grounding conductors, often in large reel quantities. Send the reel tags and the jacket print; for in-service cable, include how it was stored and whether it was energized.
Material that typically shows up
- 5kV, 8kV, 15kV, 25kV, 35kV and 69kV+ cable
- EPR and XLPE insulated, shielded constructions
- Concentric-neutral utility distribution cable
- DC string and inverter cable from solar projects
- Grounding conductors, bare and insulated
- Station control and instrumentation cable
One thing worth knowing
Medium-voltage cable is priced on voltage class, conductor size and metal, insulation and shield construction, and footage. A tag photo plus a cut-end photo answers most of that in one submission.
Next step
Send the list and the photos
The fastest submission is a list with one line per reel and photos of the tags. If the material is in more than one place, say where each group is — logistics can be planned after the review.
